Needed:
Tube of Choice - For this tutorial, I used a delightful image created by Suzanne Woolcott.
Supplies: In the zip file are: Large flag, patriotic hat and eagle head from Microsoft Clipart Media, template and word art created by me, and Star Studded font included, as well. You can download the supplies here.
Optional - Any additional elements or scraps you wish to add or change. I add this because you may want to substitute and use your own elements. Remember, tuts are just guides - the finished product with your creativity, is yours.
Drop Shadow Setting:Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black
Step 1
Open up the 4th of July template and large flag. Make the 4th of July template active and do the following:
Go to Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Defloat.
Step 2
Make the large flag active and go to Edit/Copy. Make the template active and go to Edit/Paste/Paste Into Selection. Go to Selections/Select None.
Step 3
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the drow shadow setting you see above.
Step 4
Open up the Eagle Head and go to Edit/Copy. Make the tag active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. Open up the layer palette, and move the opacity setting to the left to 42%.
Step 5
Open up the 4th of July Word Art and go to Edit/Copy. Make the tag active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. Left click the mover tool and move the word art to the top of the tag and lower the tag somewhat on the palette so it all fits. You will need to lower the Eagle head a little, as well.
Step 6
Open up the Patriotic Hat and copy and paste it on a new layer so that it is above the eagle head.
Step 7
Copy and paste your copyrighted image to the tag. If the image is too small, resize the image by going to Image/Resize, using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. If the image looks a bit blurry after resizing, go to Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen to brighten it up.
Step 8
Go to Image/Resize, using the percent option at 80%, Smart Size, and Resize all Layers checked.
Step 9
Add your copyright and licensing information.
Step 10
Go to Layers/Merge/Merge visible and save as a png. This way you can use your tag on all color backgrounds.
Step 11
Lastly, add your text and resave your tag. Use the Star Studded font as follows:
1. In the top color box (stroke) make it white.
2. In the bottom color box (fill) make it blue #0632a2
3. Font Size 48 with a stroke of 2.
4. Add the above drop shadow settings two times to the text and save your tag.
