Changing Frame Properties

Needed:

Tube of Choice - I used a delightful image created by Suzanne Woolcott.

Blinkie Temp created by me which you can download here.

Magic Wand Setting
Mode Add (Shift), Match Mode RGB Value, Tolerance 36, Continguous, Feather 0

Flood Fill Setting
Match Mode None, Blend Mode Normal, Opacity 100

Creating the Tag

Step 1
Open up the tube image you will be using and the blinkie temp. You will need to decide which two colors you will use for your blinkie effect, a color for the frame portion, and a color for the layer you will be adding your image and tag elements (Raster 1 Layer). Also if you wish to add texture effects, you can decide which ones you will be using.

Step 2
Go to the Blinkie Frame Layer, Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and move the controls until you find a color that works well with your tube image. If you wish to add a texture to this layer, do it now.

Step 3
Go to Layers/Duplicate so that you now have two blinkie frame layers.

Step 4
Go to the original blinkie frame layer. Left click the magic wand and use the settings from above. Starting with the top row, left click your magic wand into the top left box and click every other box. Go the bottom row, and starting with the second box at the far left, click every other box. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand/1. Flood fill these boxes with one of the colors you chose for your blinkie effect. Go to Selections/Select None. The reason for the flood fill setting of Match Mode None is that once you click the flood fill tool, every selected box will be flood filled at one time. Nice feature, don't you think?

Step 5
Left click your magic wand, and left click inside the remaining boxes. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand/1 and flood fill with the second color you are using for the blinkie effect. Go to Selections/Select None

Step 6
Go to the duplicate blinkie frame layer and repeat Steps 4 and 5 but this time be sure to fill the boxes by reversing the color order. For example, if your colors were pink and gray, and you started with pink, this time start with gray.

Step 7
Go to Raster Layer 1 and colorize to a color that will work with your tag and tube image. If you wish to add a texture to this layer, do it now. On this same layer, copy and paste your tube image, resizing as necessary by going to Image/Resize, using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. On this same layer, add any additional elements, preset shapes, brushes, etc. Also on this same layer, add your copyright information. Be sure though to leave room to later add your text.

Step 8
Once you have Raster Layer 1 complete (except for text), go to Layers/Duplicate.
Open up your layer palette. Go to Copy of blinkie frame layer and left click the eye. You will see a red X (this means this layer is closed off).
Go to Copy of Raster 1 layer and also left click the eye to close off this layer.
Go to the original blinkie frame layer and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 9
Left click the eye on the Merged Layer to close it off. Left click on the red X on the Copy of Blinkie Frame Layer and the Copy of Raster 1 Layer. This will reopen these layers. Make sure you are now on the Copy of Blinkie Frame Layer and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 10
Left click the red X on the bottom Merged Layer to reopen it. Both of your merged layers should now be open (no red X's). Save this file as a psp or psd file.

Animation Shop

Step 1
Open up the tag file and go to View Normal Viewing. Holding down the control key, left click the A key to activate all the frames. All your frames of your tag file should now have blue around them.

Step 2
Go to Animation/Frame Properties and type in 15.

Step 3
Before we continue to save the animation, click the Customize button to make sure you have all the correct settings for this animation. You should see two tabs: Colors and Optimizations
Here is what each setting should be under the two separate tabs:

Colors
255 Colors, Optimized Median Cut and Error Diffusion should be checked.

Optimizations
The middle three selections should be checked.
The top and bottom selections - unchecked.

After customizing the animation settings, click Ok and click Next and you will get the following screens:

Screen 1 Animation versus output Size - just click next.
Screen 2 Optimization process - just click next.
Screen 3 Optimization preview - just click next.
Screen 4 Optimization results - click finish.

Step 4
Save the file as a gif file (without text). You can later add text and resave so you can make additional tags for friends and forum/group members.

Adding Text In Paint Shop Pro

Open up the original blinkie psp file. Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add your text. On the text layer, go to Edit/Copy. You will be pasting this text in Animation Shop. Just close the original psp file without making any changes to it.

Applying the Text in Animation Shop

Step 1
Open up Animation Shop and go to Edit/Paste as New Animation.

Step 2
Make sure your animated tag file is now open. Click the Control and A Keys to Activate all the frames.

Step 3
Make your text file active and go to Edit/Copy. Now go to Edit/Propagate Paste.

Step 4
Make your animated tag file active and go to Edit/Paste into selected frame. Holding down the left mouse button, place the text exactly where you want it in the very first frame of the animation. Release the mouse button and the text should now be in all the frames. Resave your animation with a new name.
