Needed:
Tube of Choice: The lovely tube image I am using is a Gorjuss image created by Suzanne Woolcott.
The In the Stars Mask, Word Art, and Large Star were created by me and can be downloaded here.
Optional: Any additional elements you wish to add for design.
Font Used: Kristen ITC
SETTINGS USED IN THIS TUTORIAL
Magic Wand:
Mode: Add/Shift, Match Mode: RGB Value, Tolerance 12, Contiguous checked, Feather: 0, Anti-Alias checked and outside selected.
Drop Shadow:
Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black
Making the Basic Tag
Step 1
Open up the in the stars mask, the tube image you will be using and a new transparent image, 500 width by 600 height.
Step 2
Flood fill the transparency with a deep color from the tube image.
Step 3
Go to Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image. At the source window, left click the drop down arrow and find the In the Stars mask with source luminance and invert mask data checked. Click ok. Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (Flatten).
Step 4
Left click the magic wand using the settings from above. Left click the magic wand on the frame area of the tag. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.
Step 5
Make the tube image active and go to Edit/Copy. Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. Resize the image to fit by going to Image/Resize, using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. Do leave enough room at either the right or left side of the tag to later add the large star. Also leave room to add the name text on the tag. We will do that in animation shop.
Step 6
Open up the In the Stars word art file. Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and move the sliders over until you have a color that coordinates with your tag.
Step 7
Make the word art file active and go to Edit/Copy. Make the tag active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. Paste the Word Art to the top of the tag.
Step 8
Copy and paste your licensing information to the tag. Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (Flatten).
Step 9
Left click the magic wand and left click it inside each of the letters of the word art. Also left click the magic wand on the outer rim of the 4 stars at the bottom of the tag. DO NOT DESELECT.
Step 10
Go to Layers/Duplicate. Do this 4 more times so you have a total of 5 duplicate layers.
Step 11
Open up the layer palette and go to Layer 1. Go to Effects/Plugins/DSB Flux/Bright Noise and use these settings: Intensity 40 and Mix should be selected. Click ok. Apply the filter two more times on this layer. You should have applied the noise filter 3 times. DO NOT DESELECT.
Step 12
Go to the 2nd layer and apply the Bright Noise filter 3 times. Continue applying the Bright Noise filter 3 times on all 5 layers and then go to Selections/Select None. Save this file as a psp or psd file.
Colorizing and Rotating the Star
Step 1
Open up the star and colorize it to work with your tag. Go to Layers Duplicate.
Step 2
On the duplicate layer go to Image/Rotate/Free Rotate with Direction Right, Free checked and 15.00. Click ok.
Step 3
Go to Layers/Duplicate and repeat Step 2.
Step 4
Continue duplicating the layers and repeating Step 2 until you have 5 layers completed.
Step 5
Save this star file as a psp or psd file.
Animation Shop
Step 1
Open up the Tag File and Go to View/Normal Viewing. You should have 5 frames. Click the Control and A Keys to activate all the frames.
Step 2
Open up the Star File and go to View/Normal Viewing and you should also have 5 frames. Click the Control and A Keys to activate all the frames. Go to Edit/Copy. Make the Tag file active and go to Edit/Paste into Selected Frame. Holding down the left mouse button, go to the very first frame and place the star exactly where you want it and release the left mouse button. The star will now be in all the frames.
Saving the Animation
Step 1
Before we save the animation, click the Customize button to make sure you have all the correct settings for this animation. You should see two tabs: Colors and Optimizations.
Here is what each setting should be under the two separate tabs:
Colors
255 Colors, Optimized Median Cut and Error Diffusion should be checked.
Optimizations
The middle three selections should be checked.
The top and bottom selections - unchecked.
After customizing the animation settings, click Ok and click Next and you will get the following screens:
Screen 1 Animation versus output Size - just click next.
Screen 2 Optimization process - just click next.
Screen 3 Optimization preview - just click next.
Screen 4 Optimization results - click finish.
Step 2
Save the file as a gif file (without text). You will later add text and resave so you can make additional tags for friends and forum/group members.
Adding Text in Paint Shop Pro
Open up the original PSP tag file. Type in your text on a new layer. Go to Edit/Copy. Just close the psp file without any changes. We only wanted to see the placement of the text on the tag.
Animation Shop
Step 1
Go to Edit/Paste as New Animation. Go to Edit/Copy. Go to Edit/Propagate Paste.
Step 2
Make your animated tag file active and click the Control and A Keys to activate all the frames (if they are not already activated). Go to Edit/Paste into selected frame. Holding down the left mouse button, place the text exactly where you want it in the very first frame. Release the mouse button and the text should now be in all the frames. Resave your animation with a new name.
